Crumb Rubber In-Fill System and Logic
Each Versatile Grass installation should be “in-filled” with a range of medium sized crumb rubber granules. These granules pack themselves, with gravity and traffic, around and amongst the grass blade tufts. This system provides a pliable “vertical tuft support” contributing to ongoing and consistent appearance retention. Demanding high traffic sports applications may opt for a deeper in-fill of rubber which would yield an appropriately firmer turf structure. Conversely, a residential client may request a softer and looser effect, and less rubber in-fill would be top dressed into that situation. In all cases the resilient rubber crumb generates a very livable and functional land- scape surface.
Installation Services
Landscaping sheet grass is comfortably and economically installed by the end-user’s own facility staff or familiar landscaping contractors, with simplistic written guidance from Versatile Grass. Alternatively, we are quite pleased to arrange talented installation tradesmen to deliver materials to the site, seam any joints, trim-to-fit against walkways and patios, perimeter anchor with proper sized hot galvanized spiral landscape spikes, and top-dress with the crumb rubber system. Understand please that every site is unique. Every site has peculiar demands. In the Toronto/GTA market, our crews have an understandable minimum site visit billing of $279 (truck, tools, talent). For starting discussion and planning, final installation for example in the Toronto/GTA region atop a ready-to-go foundation-prepped site typically would bill at $1.59 per sqft.
Your Base Foundation
Indoor clean level situations, and outdoor level concrete, stone, and asphalt quickly accept our turf systems with the assembled structure’s weight typically serving to anchor sufficiently. Some perimeter anchoring will be discussed. For outdoor installations these products can be put down directly onto compacted soil. Understand please that every situation demands its own interpretation: a high use/ high trafficked/ large expenditure outdoor sports field would call for a greater investment in a laser-graded layered fine stone mechanically packed base. Most smaller commercial and residential situations likely would not be so burdened. It is astute to pitch your subgrade at least 1°-2° in the best direction for drainage run-off flow. As with all traditional flooring, be happy with your subgrade as your grass textile system will follow and ‘telegraph’ contours. Existing sod will need to be ‘peeled’ back and disposed, and earth compacted ‘smooth’. A 1” to 4” well compacted fine stone base would assist drainage. Good dependable landscapers or your own facility custodians can professionally prep your job site.
